Elizabeth’s story

I’ve been a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of Minnesota since 2003, and I’ve spent more than two decades gathering experience and unraveling the complexities of taxes.

I began my career as a bookkeeper at a mid-size regional firm while studying for the CPA exam. That’s where I first learned the basics, then the intricacies, of tax and accounting. Over the years I honed my expertise across departments, including accounting, business tax and individual tax.

In 2010, in a bid for independence and a little excitement, I launched Elizabeth Bystrom CPA, Ltd., a small, boutique tax and accounting firm for small businesses and individuals.

Today I still love talking tax, especially payroll tax. When I’m not working with clients, I’m usually teaching other accountants or explaining a new tax rule to a reporter.
